Hello friends! This chapter might be a little different than the others. As far as you know, I was born in Bečej and then moved to Novi Sad to live with my family. I think it is high time to tell you a bit more about Novi Sad, my family, and their friends. Are you ready? I will try to keep it simple but fun, so grab a drink or something to eat, make yourself comfortable, and enjoy the ride.
To tell you the truth, I haven’t seen the entire city of Novi Sad yet, but so far I have seen boulevards, dog parks, and a bunch of stairs in almost every building and house. I have seen cars and buses, loads of people, dogs, and cats. I have met my family and their friends, the vet… and another one… and yet another one… but I am not going to talk about that now.
Novi Sad is a city by a wide river where the air carries the smell of trees, food, and other dogs. There are many long paths made for walking, and the streets are calm enough for slow, curious sniffing. The city center is lively but not overwhelming, and people are gentle, often stopping to smile or pat my head. Life here feels relaxed, with plenty of time to wander, rest, and quietly observe the world. Overall, it is nice here, and I like it.
My family consists of my mom Lea and her parents, who are my grandparents, Nena and Boba. I have been introduced to a few of my grandparents’ friends—really nice, chill people. They are always happy to see me, pet me, and call me baby names. So yes, I like them. As far as I can remember, I met about six of their closest friends. Some of them even have dogs too, but unfortunately I still haven’t met them. I heard they are big, and I think my mom is a bit scared to let me play with them because she worries too much about me.
I met other dogs though. In the dog park, out on the streets, during my walkies. I played with some and had a lot of fun, but let me tell you—there are some dogs who need better training. They don’t really scare me because I am a strong and tough bulldog, but I notice that from time to time my mom gets scared for both my safety and hers. When that happens, she simply picks me up and carries me for a few meters until we are out of sight of the bad dogs.
I have one friend my grandma likes to call Kushi. I am not really sure why that is his name, but it’s cute, I think. With Kushi, I play by running from one side to the other to see who is faster. I enjoy being around him from time to time because I feel he might be a bit lonely. He is always outside in the yard, alone. I am not sure where his family is.
I met a bunch of Lea’s friends over time, but I only like a few—and to be honest, those are the ones I see all the time. The rest of them are gone. And when I say gone, I mean Lea is no longer in contact with them because she decided what is most important in her life and made some big changes to become the person she is today. As a dog, I don’t understand all of that, but as her baby doggie, I support her. She has more time for me and with me, and she prefers that over anything else.
So, the number one friend and a true member of our family is a person I will introduce as Mimy. She is very kind, loving, and caring, and whenever I see her, I give her a bunch of French kisses. You get it, because I am a Frenchie? She is awesome, and she loves me as if I were her own pup. Over time, she bought me many toys and treats, and she even drove me to the vet whenever I had to go and my mom couldn’t. I have been to her place a few times as well, and naturally, I am always treated like a king. Did I mention she gives me tons of compliments and adorable nicknames? I just love her so much.
Second, but not any less important, is Lea’s friend who comes from afar. Okay, not that far, but I heard it is about an hour and a half car ride. Hey, I am a dog—give me a break here, okay? Her name is Masha. She likes to drink beer and smoke, but I don’t mind because she hugs me a lot, lets me sleep in her lap, and talks to me as if I were a baby. It is very sweet. I know she loves me, and therefore I love her too. I also know she has a dog, but I never met her. Whenever Masha is around, I know my mom is happy because they talk for hours and laugh a lot, but they never ignore me. She got me presents too, you know. There is one I use all the time.
Now, this might sound a little crazy, but hey… what the hell?! The third person is Oliver. He is my daddy. He has been Lea’s boyfriend for over three years now. He is tall and bald, and he has a bunch of tattoos, just like my mom. They fell in love, and when I first met him, I have to admit I was a bit intimidated. It felt like he wanted my mom all to himself. But she knows best. No matter what, she said, I am her number one. He loves me, and I love him back, but our relationship is very different compared to the girls. I kind of compete with him, dare him, and sometimes bite him if I am in that mood. But it’s okay. He knows I am just being playful, and he treats me well. He is a good person—and who would you believe more than a dog, right?
No, I didn’t forget to mention my grandparents, Nena and Boba. I saved the best for last. If anyone loves me more than my mom, it’s those two. They do everything for me. They play with me, take me on walkies, talk to me, and if they don’t see me for a while, they video-call my mom just to check on me. I go for sleepovers at their place whenever I want, I do whatever I want, and they don’t mind at all. I love them so much. I take baths there, especially during the hot summer days, we watch movies together, and what makes me the happiest is sleeping between them. And the food… oh Lord… the food they give me is always so delicious! I love to eat a lot, okay?
To sum it all up, I moved to the city, and I like it here. I met many people, and I have everything one dog could ever want. I am deeply grateful for a family that loves me to the moon and back, and I can’t express how much I love them too—including their good friends. I love my life, and honestly, I don’t ask for much, yet I still get everything and more. Be humble, love, be happy, and stay safe! Thank you for your attention; it truly means a great deal to me. Talk to you again soon. Byeee!
