Stop! Don’t Feed Your Cat These Foods

If you are a cat owner and you want your pet to be happy and healthy, to live a long life next to you, there are certain things you absolutely must know and be prepared at all times. Cats can not consume the same food as humans do, nor can they live off of kibble alone. Please, don’t be discouraged by this information. Let us go through the list of food/drinks to avoid and all will be a bit clearer.

One of the most dangerous and the first one on our list is chocolate. It is the best and most delicious treat for us humans but it can be fatal to your feline. Even the small amount can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, it can speed up the heart rate and eventually your cat can collapse. The dark chocolate and cocoa are very toxic and it is the smartest move to avoid it around cats. Cat alone might never eat it but better safe than sorry.

Onion, garlic and all of the other sorts of this extremely toxic food for felines must be out of their way at all times. It doesn’t matter if it is raw, boiled or in form of a powder this is a big NO unless you want your cat to be anemic and killed slowly. I know it sounds harsh but we all must be aware for the sake of our pets. Sometimes, symptoms don’t occur until it is too late.

Alcohol is not something your cat can simply take and I know this might sound silly but don’t even try to give a little beer or vodka to your cat. Even if you spill a bit try and prevent cat from licking or sniffing. And not only that, but sweets filled with alcohol or even the rubbing alcohol can damage your cat’s health. It can make your feline vomit, get disoriented, hard to breathe or kid you not a coma. Be very careful.

Coffee and energy drinks – extremely and seriously deadly to your pet cat. Even a little drop licked by your feline can lead to shivering, speeding heart rate, anxiety and seizures. Even some of us humans can not take too much of a coffee let alone energy drinks, now stop and think about your cat in that situation. Cats can not say how they feel so just be mindful around them.

Grapes are bad for both cats and dogs. Even a small amount eaten by your cat can lead to kidney failure and the rest is history. It is for the best if you can keep deadly food away from your cat and vice versa.

Artificial sweetener or sugar substitute is not something you are willingly going to give to your pet but if you are using it for your morning coffee or tea since it is tiny it can fall down without you even noticing and not all cats, but some can accidentally eat it or lick it because it is in their nature to be curios and there you have an emergency situation. Make good choices!

Raw dough can continue to expand inside a cat’s stomach, leading to bloating and pain. In addition, fermentation produces alcohol, which further increases the risk of poisoning. This is one of those “accidental” dangers that owners often underestimate. Not even baked dough such as bread or pastries should ever be given to cats and dogs as well.

It is often believed that cats love milk but many are lactose intolerant and to have a bowl of milk can lead to diarrhea and stomach ache. Not all groceries are toxic or deadly but can still affect your cat badly.

Additionally, tobacco smoke can cause respiratory problems, any cleaning chemicals can get into their fur or into their system, and lastly etherical oils can be a major issue if it gets in contact with the skin or gets inhaled.

Hopefully this guide helped to all who were unaware of what can be dangerous to your beloved felines, also if you already knew this it is better to remind yourself rather than to get in trouble. Stay safe, keep your pets safe by making smart choices and we will keep you posted on similar topics in the future. Thank you all so much for the attention. Have a lovely day!
