How to Know Your Frenchie Loves You?

Ozzy boi

Every dog breed is specific when it comes to behavior, traits, and bonding with humans. Before getting a dog, you need to know as much as possible about the breed and how to properly take care of them. We, as people, show love to our dogs in many different ways—hugging them, kissing them, petting them, buying expensive toys or treats, and above all, taking care of their health.

Obviously, your dog will love you if you treat them well, but how do you recognize that love? How do you know if your Frenchie really, deeply loves you when they can’t say it out loud? Stay tuned, because we’re here to solve that mystery for you.

The sound of paws is always behind you

If you have a French Bulldog, you have a life partner—and you will never ever feel alone. Frenchies are companion dogs who love people and kids. Of course, they enjoy the company of other Frenchies too, but you are their main person.

They will follow you everywhere. Bathroom? Frenchie is there. Going to the kitchen for a snack? Their little paws will be right behind you—or already waiting. No matter what you’re doing or how you move around your home, your dog will be close.

Not because they are clingy, as many believe, but because this is one of the ways they express their feelings for you. So don’t push them away—let them be there and enjoy the company, because it truly is the best you will ever have.

The famous licking of your entire face

If your Frenchie loves you like crazy, they will lick your face, your legs, and pretty much anything they can reach. Some people believe this doesn’t mean much, but it’s actually their version of kissing—a sweet way of showing love.

Sometimes, if they get overly excited, they might gently nibble you, but that’s still affection, never aggression. You can be sitting quietly and your Frenchie will suddenly come over, licking your face, asking for affection while giving it at the same time.

Don’t ignore this—you might offend them. Just let it happen. Kiss them on the forehead, tell them you love them too, and watch how they completely melt from true love.

The jumps and crazy runs around you

Let’s say you went to the store and left your Frenchie home alone for half an hour—maybe an hour at most. When you come back, here’s what you can expect: your Frenchie making circles around you, jumping into your arms, wagging their little tail like they haven’t seen you in days.

What they’re really saying is: You were gone for so long. I waited. I wasn’t sure if you’d come back—but you did. I’m not alone anymore. You love me. You’ll never leave me. And I love you so much.

They’ll probably jump around you for at least fifteen minutes, overwhelmed with happiness. If that’s not love, what is?

The indie TV show stare directly into your eyes

This one is a bit funny, but think about those indie TV shows where people stare at each other for ten minutes straight without breaking eye contact. If you don’t know what I mean, just look it up—you’ll get it.

If your Frenchie is staring deeply into your eyes, don’t break the connection. This is them telling you: I love you. You are my entire world. And they mean it.

Calmly keep eye contact until they’re done. That’s how they know you love them too. You don’t even need to say anything—just look back. Still, I always like to tell my dog how much I love him, how he’s my everything, and how I live for his precious smile.

Sleeping together in your bed

I know pet lovers buy dog beds for their little ones, but Frenchies are different. And if you own one—yes, you with the French Bulldog—you already know what I’m about to say.

They’re not being clingy or spoiled. No. A Frenchie simply loves sleeping next to their life partner, a.k.a. YOU. Don’t push them off the bed. Don’t force them onto the floor or their own bed. Let them stay close.

When you sleep beside your dog, you create a bond no one can ever break. You breathe together, feel each other’s warmth, and both of you feel safer. You’ll sleep better—and so will they—because they know you’re right there and not leaving their side.

And that snorting sound? To some people, it’s pure therapy. A beautiful sound you should learn to enjoy.

Casually checking up on you

If your Frenchie decides to nap—on their bed, the floor, a chair, under your legs, or anywhere they find a good spot—and they wake up from time to time, don’t worry.

They’re just checking on you. Making sure you’re still there and that everything is okay. They’ll look at you, maybe stretch a little, and then go back to sleep.

It’s their way of saying: Good, you’re still here. Which really means they care about you and worry for you. Just let them know all is well, and they’ll return to dreamland.

Baby talk does miracles

Talk to your Frenchie like you’re talking to a baby. They absolutely love it. This is one of the clearest ways to show affection, and when they hear it, they’ll literally smile from ear to ear.

They enjoy soft, high-pitched tones—but never loud or aggressive voices. Yelling will scare them away. Just gentle baby talk while cuddling, or even when they’re napping and you feel the urge to tell them something cute because they look too adorable to handle.

That big smile on their face will tell you everything—you’re doing it right, and they love you back.

“Here is my butt—scratch it!”

When your Frenchie turns their little butt toward you, it doesn’t mean they don’t like you. Quite the opposite—it means they trust you and love you.

So don’t hesitate. Scratch that little tush and watch them melt with joy. It might sound silly, but it’s true. Once they get used to it, they’ll walk up to you, turn around, spread one leg like humans do when they sit, and patiently wait for their scratchy-scratch.

“Oh, my slipper—thank you, baby boy!”

Some dogs have favorite toys, and when they love you, they want to share them with you—or simply grab your attention. That “toy” can be literally anything, including your slipper or shoe.

So next time your Frenchie proudly brings you a slipper, they’re saying: I love you. Let’s play. I want your attention. Don’t get upset—it’s just a slipper. If it gets chewed, you’ll buy another pair.

But love like the love you receive from a French Bulldog? That, my dear, is hard to find.

Overall thoughts and opinion

Dogs—especially French Bulldogs—are like little kids. They need attention, playtime, quality food, fresh air, and walkies. Most of all, they need love and affection. They need to feel safe and secure.

Show your dog how much you love them—not just with treats, but with your heart. Once your Frenchie loves you, that bond is for life. And it’s a feeling you’ll never want to live without.

Spread love and joy. 💛🐾
